Making Pickering Stronger - Free
Management Training for Small Businesses!
Recent studies have shown that
small and medium sized businesses have a significant need for
management training at several key points in their development
as they evolve from a single person business to a successful
larger enterprise.
Despite the demonstrated need and
benefits from management training most small and medium sized
businesses find that affordability, inconvenient access, and
time constraints create a significant barrier to participation.
Recognizing the need for an
investment in management training as a key to economic growth
and global competitiveness, the Pickering Public Library has
recently been awarded a provincial grant in order to expand our
service to the business community by creating a management
training program and a self-study collection free of barriers.
With this grant, the Library has
arranged to have faculty from the University of Ontario
Institute of Technology (UOIT) deliver FREE management
training courses for Pickering small businesses , conveniently
located at the Pickering Central Library.
This series of courses, titled
"Making Pickering Stronger" will consist of six (6)
once-a-month, day-long sessions including such topics as
Finance, Project Management, and Leadership. This series of
courses constitutes the essential skills that managers need to
succeed and participants will be awarded a certificate upon
completion.
