  • Could I have a Fire Inspector do a presentation to our classroom and/or community group?

    • Our Fire Inspectors are available to do presentations upon request, however because of the increasing number of requests, we ask that a 30-day advance notice be given, along with any information that might help us when designing a suitable program for your group.  Please fax Dorothy Britton at 905.420.4650 and a confirmation will be mailed out to you.
  • Will the Fire Prevention office design an Emergency Escape Plan for our business?

    • Unless otherwise specified, this is the owner’s responsibility.  However, we will assist you with your design on request.
  • Could we have a demonstration on the use of Fire Extinguishers?

    • Fire Inspectors are available to do demonstrations on request.   Please fax your request to Dorothy Britton at 905.420.4650.  A 30-day advance notice is required and a confirmation date will be mailed out to you.
  • I operate a daycare center.  Is it mandatory to have it inspected?

    • Daycare inspections are not mandatory, however we would recommend an annual inspection or as required, “based on complaint” or “change of ownership”.
  • Is there a charge to have my home inspected as a foster care facility?

    • Presently, there is no charge for foster care home inspections, however this may change depending on internal policy.
  • Where do I report a landlord who is currently operating a rooming or lodging house or basement apartment that doesn’t meet minimum standards?

    • Fire Prevention Services will investigate complaints of this nature, and report their findings to the landlord for correction.
  • I live in the country.  Is it ok for me to do open-air burning?

    • No, open-air burning is not allowed regardless of where you live, unless permission is obtained from the Fire Chief.
