Stepping in Tyme, Pickering Museum
Village’s volunteer heritage dance society, is dedicated to the
learning and accurate interpretation of 19th century social
dance within the time period of the Pickering Museum Village. It
is our sincere hope that this facet of PMV will throw greater
light on the lives of Canada’s early settlers, and that visitors
may leave with a broader and clearer understanding of Pickering
and Canada’s past.
Stepping in Tyme
meets every other Tuesday evening, all year round.
Dancers as
well as musicians, enjoy social camaraderie,
while learning and practicing a variety of
heritage dances, both on site bi-weekly, and
during occasional outings to various Toronto
dance clubs, workshops and special events .
We’re always learning something new! In
addition to our own dance research and
development, expert guest instructors are
invited to teach periodically throughout the
year.
Dance styles performed include
English Country Dance, Contra Dance, Quadrilles, Old-fashioned
couples Ballroom Waltzes and Polkas, Galops etc.
For those who like to perform, the museum offers dance
performance opportunities at it’s seasonal events and also at
off-site locations such as Pickering Heritage Day. |
